Additional Information: This drawing appeared in Life Magazine on September 1, 1904 “Postponing the Inheritance: Miss Tagg Explained the Game to her Uncle, who is Greatly Improved by the Exercise”. This was drawing XIV of the “Snob’s Progress” series.

CHARLES DANA GIBSON (AMERICAN, 1867 – 1944) SHUNNED. Pencil & ink drawing depicts a young “Gibson Girl” holding a golf club teaching an older man golf. A middle age man looks on in a disgruntled fashion. The background shows the country club with many club members with ladies. Unsigned, unframed. Numbered in corner “D1435″. SIZE: 23″ x 29”. PROVENANCE: Descent through the artist’s family. CONDITION: Outside borders with stains and minor losses, good. 9-23003 (1,500-2,500)
