PENNSYLVANIA QUEEN ANNE WALNUT BALLOON-SEAT SIDE CHAIR. Third quarter 18th century. The yoked crest rail joined to the shaped vasiform splat, flanked by serpentine stiles, the balloon shaped seat rail fitted with conforming slip seat, raised on frontal cabriole legs with shaped returns on circular pad feet, the rear legs backswept and chamfered. The whole joined by a block- and baluster-turned recessed box stretcher. SIZE: 39-1/2″ h. of back. PROVENANCE: From a fine coastal Maine home. CONDITION: Professionally restored and repolished, the frame pinned and original. Crest rail pieced at stile left front facing. Legs professionally spliced. 9-93158 (800-1,200)
