FABULOUS COLLECTION OF ADMIRAL DEWEY, USS MAINE, & SPANISH/AMERICAN WAR ITEMS. Lot includes 23 items. 1) Framed 8″ x 3-1/2″ pictorial woven silk “In Honor of Admiral Dewey” showing an oval portrait with US flag & Great White Fleet ship. Signed “J.J. Jordan Fecit”. Housed in a burl wood frame with glass & green backing. 2) Framed 8-1/2″ x 3″ silk “One Flag One Land One Heart One Hand One Nation Ever More” showing a bald eagle over two flags over Great White Fleet battleship. Housed in a walnut deep frame with three other metal pieces of the era including a 2 Cent piece; a Grand Army of the Republic Medal; and an eagle pin. 3) Framed collage of two stereoptic cards and one patriotic envelope cover “Remember the Maine”. 4) Outstanding 11-1/2″ x 18-1/4″ framed see-through print of the Battleship Maine. Viewed on the wall it depicts the Maine steaming through Havana Harbor as she appeared before the explosion. When held up to light it shows the battleship during the explosion with the deck exploding and pieces flying through the air and sea mines exploding. Copyright 1898 by P.P. Cappel. Housed in its original walnut frame with printed matte. 5) Framed 12-1/4″ x 18-3/4″ lithograph of the North Atlantic Fleet published by Muller, Luchsinger & Co. NY, 1898. Housed in a walnut period frame. 6) Framed 12-1/4″ x 18-3/4″ chromolithograph of the “Asiatic Squadron published by published by Muller, Luchsinger & Co. NY, 1898. Housed in a walnut period frame. 7) Framed 11-1/2″ x 15-1/2” print “Our Admirals Return” showing a destroyer with a portrait of Adm. Dewey. Housed in a white painted frame with blue matte (fold marks). 8) 10″ h x 15″ l period desk photo frame with easel mounted frame having a photograph of Admiral Dewey. The frame supported by two large bullets and the platform having four rifle bullets. 9) 6-3/4″ dia. painted round wood plaque with patriotic theme of crossed flags, cannons, and drum under palm tree, signed on bottom “Haiti”. 10) 15″ x 16″ handkerchief decorated with country flags and the interior having the USS New Jersey and Admirals of the Atlantic Fleet. 11 & 12) 1″ dia. copper medallion with Dewey’s bust and reverse showing the fleet at sea along with a silver & enameled pendant with a US flag. 13-17) Five milk glass covered dishes, four in the form of Great White Fleet boats, one of them having Dewey’s bust and another with Uncle Sam. The last titled “The American Hen” showing an eagle top covering three eggs labeled “Porto Rica”, “Cuba” and “Philippines”. 18-20) Three 7″ dia. milk glass dishes. One with transfer picture of Dewey; another with US Battleship Maine; another having a flag & eagle border. 21) 5-1/2″ glass dish with an etched Dewey & flag design. 22) 8-1/4″ dia. plate commemorating the Maine in red, white, and blue. 23) 10-1/4″ dia. blue & white plate by Coalport showing Dewey and six ship’s pennants.
