RACING HORSE AND JOCKEY WEATHERVANE. Probably early 20th century. Of unusual form, the full-bodied copper vane depicting a racehorse in full stride and jockey with crop in right hand, each figure modeled with a cast head. The figure of the jockey is also unusual in that it has the appearance of having been modeled first from clay. The head of the racehorse has a uniquely life-like appearance. Now mounted on a steel rod and wooden base. SIZE: Vane: 32″ l. Overall: 18-1/2″ h. x 32″ l. x 4-3/4″ d. CONDITION: Nice medium to chocolate-brown patina, saddle and bridle with brass-colored surface, both front legs damaged and restored at knees. Otherwise very good overall. 9-92630 (2,000-3,000)
