WILLIAM MERRILL SCRIMSHAW POWDER HORN. Circa 1840. Cape Elizabeth. This lovely example decorated overall with ships, animals, conifers, and a young girl. In addition, it is carved the name “Hooper Strout” The neck of the powder horn carved with several lines of verse much of which is now faded and illegible. SIZE: 9-1/2″ l. CONDITION: Very good original surfaces and nice patina. 9-99586 (1,500-2,500)
