FRENCH AUTOMATON “MOZART”.

FRENCH AUTOMATON “MOZART”. Paper label attached to bottom stating “SERENADE DE SCHUBERT” and “MENUET DE MOZART”. Automaton has drawer that, when pulled open activates the mechanism. The bisque-head pianist proceeds to move his hands across the keys while raising and lowering his head and turning side to side. This charming automaton is of a more recent vintage. Contained in the drawer is a newspaper clipping from 1967 with a young lady holding this particular piece; her collection was being auctioned at Butterfield and Butterfield in August of 1967. SIZE: 8-1/2” x 10” x 12”. CONDITION: Overall very good. Pin that is attached to drawer that also activates mechanism is missing, this is just a minor repair and should not detract from the value. 1-734 JL17 (1,500-2,000)
