SHOCKING AND HISTORIC TYPED LETTER SIGNED BY ADOLPH HITLER. Possibly one of the most significant and historical documents of the 20th Century. Adolf Hitler was unquestionably the most sinister leader in the world in the 20th Century. His fanatical anti-Semitic position and subsequent actions lead to what was unquestionably the greatest human catastrophe of the 20th Century. This 4-page letter, approximately 8-1/4 by 12 inches, dated “Munich, September 16” (The original typed letter has an O in front of the 6 with a 1 struck through it, and thus could have been intended to be dated for the 6th of September or the 16th of September, 1919.) The letter was written to Adolf Gemlich, a fellow member of the “AUFKLARUNGSKOMMANDO” (Enlightenment Commando) in Munich. Gemlich had written a letter to Hitler requesting information on “the Jewish Peril.” In response, Hitler writes, (In full-translation by Aaron Breitbart).. “ “ If the danger posed by Jewry to our people today finds it’s expression in an undeniable aversion by a great part of our people, it’s not because the aversion stems from conscious knowledge of the destructive nature of Jewry upon our nation, but rather because of individual experience with Jews. Anitsemitism thereby assumes the character of the manifestation of emotions. Antisemitism as a political movement must not, however, be determined by feelings but rather through realization of facts. To begin with, Judaism is definitely a racial and not religious group. Jews never describe themselves as Jewish Germans, Jewish Poles, or Jewish Americans, but rather as German, Polish, or American Jews. Jews living among foreign peoples have never assumed any more of that people than their language. Just as the German who, in France is forced to use French, in Italy, Italian, or in China, Chinese, is no Frenchman, Italian, or Chinaman, neither can the Jew in our midst who speaks German be called a German. And as great as the Jewish religious influence on the Jewish nation is, it is not the religion which determines the question of Jewishness. There is hardly a race whose members don’t subscribe to a different religion. Through a thousands years of inbreeding, frequently cramped conditions, the Jew preserved his race and peculiarity better than the more numerous people among whom he lived. The result of which is that a non-German race lives among us with it’s own feelings, thoughts and aspirations while having all the same rights as we do. Jews are pure materialists in thought and aspirations. The dance of the golden calf, and the pursuit of materialism should not be the highest goal on earth. The character of an individual is no longer the determining factor of his worth, nor his efforts on behalf of the whole, but rather his material wealth. The greatness of a nation is no longer measured by its spiritual powers, but rather by it’s capital. The result is that thoughts are geared to the pursuit of money and power to protect it, in which Jews ruthlessly involve themselves. He grovels in order to obtain the favor of princes, only to abuse it like a leech. He counts democracy for the favor of the masses and bows before the “Majesty of the Nation” while recognizing only the majesty of power. He destroys the character of the princes through bribery; national pride and power are shamelessly taught. His might is the power of money, obtained through usury and constantly increased, imposing the most dangerous yoke upon nations, so that his glitter turns out to eventually have tragic consequences. All those values for whom men strive, be it religion, socialism, democracy, are nothing more to him than a means to obtain money and satisfy his lust for power. His effect is racial tuberculosis on the nation. From that, the following results: Antisemitism – born of purely emotional grounds – will find initial expression in the form of pogroms. The anti-semitism of reason must lead to a struggle for the legal battle to abrogate laws giving them favored positions, differentiating the Jew from other foreigners. The final goal must be the removal of all Jews. To accomplish these goals, only a government of National power is capable and never a government of national weakness. The Republic in Germany does not owe it’s birth to the will of it’s people, but rather to circumstances which have been expressed in general dissatisfaction which were and still are unconnected to the form of state. A part of the nation recognizes that not the form of state will change the circumstances, but rather a rebirth of the spiritual power of the nation. This rebirth will not come through the rule of the irresponsible majority under party dogmas or through an irresponsible press or phrases, but rather through nationalistic leaders with inner feelings of responsibility. The fact robs the Republic of it’s inner support, especially the vital powers of the nation, so that today, the leadership is forced to take help of those who take advantage of the circumstances, the force behind the revolution, namely the Jews. Without considering the danger of Jewry (a proof of this are the statements made by leading personalities), they willingly accept their support and then must repay the favor when elected. This not only furthers the Jewish interests but also hinders the struggle of a betrayed nation against its betrayer in the ending of the anti-semitic movement. Adolf Hitler” Extremely important historical content, for this 1919 letter betrays the first signs of Hitler’s conversion to virulent anti-Semitism, as he was carried by the momentum of his own propaganda. This letter is well known, having been published in 1959 in its entirety in the German journal Vierteljahrshefte Fur Zeitgeschichte in an article submitted by Ernest Deuerlein under the title “Dokumentation: Hitlers Eintritt in die Politik und die Reichswehr” (pp. 177-227) The issue of the date of Hitlers conversion is a controversial one, indeed. Some have postulated that Hitlers conversion was much earlier – during his Vienna period [from his mothers death in Linz (December 21, 1907) to April, 1913] though at the time he held a much less radical position. However, there is no documentation to support this hypothesis. Hitlers letter provides the evidence that strongly supports the postulation that he converted to his fanatical anti-Semitism much later. The letter is the earliest written reference by Hitler concerning the Jewish situation, having been composed six years BEFORE the publication of Mein Kampf (1925). The letter was also referenced in the 1982 book Hitler and the Final Solution,, by Gerald Fleming, in the chapter entitled “The Growth of An Obsession”. In that work, Fleming writes that Professor Eberhard Jackel concludes that Hitler veered into a radically anti-Semitic position during August, 1920, basing his hypothesis almost entirely on the contents of Hitler’s September, 1919 letter. This letter has been carefully researched, and its unquestioned authenticity has been verified by two major U.S. institutions – The Berlin Document center in New York and manuscript/historical document expert Charles Hamilton. The letter was initially acquired by a World War II Veteran in 1945 in Bavaria. He and some fellow Military personal ransacked what turned out to be a Nazi Party Archive in a small town south of Nuremberg. This was in the spring of 1945. There original hopes were to find some war trophies such as guns or daggers, etc, but not being the first ones there, they were disappointed to find nothing but file cabinets full of other letters and papers trashed around the floor of the compound. After looking unsuccessfully for more trophies the G.I as he left scooped up a handful of papers with the Nazi insignia to take as souvenirs. The G.I whose name is William F. Zeigler states in his own affidavit, “…I came upon these papers when I was assigned to the 3rd Army as a prisoner of war interrogator. At the time I was stationed in Bamberg in Northern Bavaria. As best I can recall, it was just prior to the end of the war and we travelled to a point somewhere south of Nuremberg. Someone had mentioned a Nazi headquarters of some type in town, so we were there looking for souvenirs such as swords, metals, flags, etc.” “We found none of these, but did find a large hall with files and letters scattered all over the floor. Obviously this was some kind of party archive, either local or national. Since we found no guns or daggers my interest was caught by the Nazi insignia on some of the letters and I collected a number of them for souvenirs. The date when this occurred must have been in late April or early May of 1945, because I was stationed at Bamberg at the end of the war.” “I cannot recall the name of the town because at the time these papers did not seem significant to me but I can relate the date because it was just prior to the end of the war which occurred on my birthday in 1945. I was 27 years old at the time and these have been in my possession ever since, laying in a manila envelope in our closet most of the time. Wm. F. Ziegler” Hitler’s letter is also accompanied by a letter of authentication from Daniel Simon of the Berlin Document Center, indicating that it appears to them that the letter came from Hauptarchiv der NSDP. The letter is presented in a special hardbound presentation case with an insert and a copy of a photograph of Hitler. CONDITION: Letter is generally in excellent condition; there are 2 fold creases, one running down the center of the letter, the other across the midsection. There is a slight separation of the crease at the very top of the document and a slight separation at the very bottom of the document; the paper is toned but generally in excellent condition. 4-39556 JDJ (275,000-375,000)
