SET OF FOUR CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY LADDERBACK SIDE CHAIRS. Third quarter 18th century. Each chair with arched pierced crest rail above three conforming slats, all with incised scrolled borders, joined to the trapezoidal overupholstered seat with serpentine front rail, raised on square chamfered frontal legs and backswept rear legs, joined by a morticed and dovetailed recessed box stretcher. SIZE: Each: 37″ h. of back x 18-1/2″ h. of seat. CONDITION: Chairs retain original old finish with very good patina. Old professional repairs to crest rail of two chairs. Seat blocks appear original, fabric not removed. Very good overall. 9-93253 (1,600-2,400)
