IMPORTANT MASSACHUSETTS CHIPPENDALE LOLLING CHAIR, PROBABLY NORTH SHORE. Late 18th century. Of diminutive proportions, the rectangular canted padded back with serpentine crest rail and pointed ears, joined to the outcurved arms with molded grips, continuing to molded shaped serpentine supports, centering the trapezoidal upholstered seat with serpentine front rail, raised on channeled and chamfered frontal legs, the rear legs backswept, joined by a recessed box stretcher. SIZE: 36-1/2″ h. of back x 21-1/2″ seat w. x 17″ h. of seat. CONDITION: Very fine overall, now covered in muslin. Professionally repolished over old surface and restored. 9-94211 (3,000-5,000)
