SIGNED (19TH CENTURY) INSECTS ON PARADE. Outstanding oil on wood panel scene shows a dry river bed leading to distant town and hills. The foreground having a flower-covered bank alongside a sandy river bed. The artist has included 65+ insects crawling, flying and resting across the landscape. The insects include moths, butterflies, bees, dragonflies, beetles of every description and more. Colorful bluebell flowers dot the scene under white cloud and blue sky. Signed indistinctly lower right appears to be “E. DO__?, 1870”. Housed in a period gilt frame. SIZE: 9-1/2″h x 25-1/2″w. CONDITION: Some minor in painting, otherwise very good. 9-96369 (6,000-8,000)
