NEW ENGLAND QUEEN ANNE BIRCH CANDLESTAND. Late 18th century, probably New Hampshire. In original red wash. The octagonal top joined to a slender baluster-turned standard, raised on cabriole leg tripod base, terminating in ridged snake feet. SIZE: 27″ h. Top: 15-1/4″ x 15-1/2″. CONDITION: Table retains original surfaces, now crusty and with craquelure. One leg with old repair at ankle, lower section of leg spliced and shaped. Old splits at base of shaft. Top has been turned 90 degrees and re-attached. 9-99626 (1,000-1,500)
