NEW ENGLAND CHIPPENDALE BIRCH TALL CASE CLOCK, STEPHEN HASHAM . Last quarter 18th century, New Hampshire. The bonnet with swan’s neck cove-molded pediment, the terminals carved with rosettes centering a brass ball and spire finial above the arched door flanked by freestanding colonnettes. The brass dial with Arabic and Roman numeral chapter rings centering a subsidiary seconds dial above time and strike apertures, beneath which is engraved the name “STEP HASHAM” within a banner emitting scrolling vinery. The face within the arch engraved with scrolling leaf tips. The brass movement weight driven striking on a bell. The case throat with panel door and thumbmolded edges joined to the cove-molded dovetailed box base raised on molded bracket feet. Clock is offered with weights and pendulum. SIZE: 85-1/2″ h x 14-1/4″ w of throat x 9-3/4″ d. CONDITION: The case professionally repolished with cleaned old surfaces. Dial and hands appear original.
