FREDERICK BLAKESLEE (AMERICAN, 1898-1973) IN FOR THE KILL. Oil on canvas WWI dog fight scene shows an American fighter perpendicular to a three-winged German fighter who is chasing another American fighter. The American plane has fired a burst which penetrates the fuselage and kills the German aviator. Signed lower left. Housed in a black painted decorative frame with gold liner. Possibly used as a pulp-fiction cover. SIZE: 30″ x 21″. CONDITION: Very good, relined with minor inpainting. 9-97175 (3,000-5,000)
