FINE JAPANESE MATCHLOCK MUSKET. NSN. 50 Cal. 42” oct bbl with lotus muzzle. The bbl is inlaid with silver and brass warriors with a castle in the background. There are numerous engraved brass inlays in the wood including very long ones on the bottom of the stock. The chrysanthemum inlays at the butt suggest royal usage but this is not supported by the bbl inlays. The ramrod is missing. CONDITION: Brass on the stock has a mellow patina while the inlays on the bbl have tarnished almost to invisibility. Wood is fine and the action is fine. 4-59027 (2,500-4,500)
