EARLY ARCHITECTURAL CHIPPENDALE PINE CORNER CUPBOARD. Late 18th, early 19th century, probably a New England example. Fine barrel back example with dental molded cornice above an open frieze centering a leafy keystone over the open bowback interior fitted with two incurved shelves with serpentine fronts beneath a large carved shell canopy flanked by reeded and fluted pilasters beneath floral carved spandrels, the pilasters on Classical bases. The lower section fitted with a pair of cupboard doors with raised panels above a cupid’s bow apron flanked by straight supports. SIZE: 80″ h x 35-1/2″ w. CONDITION: Original paint has been removed to the natural wood surfaces, now of a light honey color. Original H-form hinges replaced. A single 4″ molding absent above proper right pilaster.
