GEORGE HENRY HARLOW (British, 1787-1819) PORTRAIT OF ELIZABETH VENTRY. Oil on canvas half portrait shows young woman in regal costume including a black dress with white collar adorned with a red rose and diamond and citrine brooch. Her arm rests on a chair arm and she holds a red book with finger holding book open. She wears a diamond and gold ring and she has curly brown hair which shows under a hat adorned with a gold brooch. Housed in a magnificent antique carved wood gilt frame with gilt name plaque. The back stretcher has remnants of a typed label which partially reads “Married Nicholas De La Sherois Crommlin…Castle…Ireland…”. SIZE: 30″ x 25″. CONDITION: Some inpainting, fine craquelure, varnish consolidation, otherwise good. 9-94269 (10,000-15,000)
