EDWARD HOYER (British, 19th Century) CONFRONTATION AT SEA. Large oil on canvas nautical scene shows the three-mast triple deck galleon facing an oncoming three-mast ship. Large blue, white tipped swells rock the ships, all under blue and white cloud sky. Signed lower left “Edw. Hoyner 77″. Housed in what appears to be its original gesso decorated gilt frame with gilt liner (gesso losses). SIZE: 30″ x 50”. PROVENANCE: From a large Boston, MA area Estate. CONDITION: In need of cleaning, some loss to right corner and several small spots in sky. 9-99281 (1,000-2,000)
