WILLIAM MATTHEW HART (Irish/American, 1830-1908) THE OLD HOMESTEAD. Outstanding oil on canvas scene shows an old farmhouse covered with vines nestled under large oak & maple trees. The fall colors are approaching with a tree on the left side turning red. Five figures can be seen on the plush lawn and a barn hides under the tall trees. A blue & cloud sky finishes the canvas. Signed lower right. Housed in a gesso decorated gilt period frame. SIZE: 15-1/2″ X 13″. CONDITION: Some inpainting, very good. 9-22700 (4,000-6,000)
