FINE GEORGE III MAHOGANY BRACKET CLOCK, W. KIPLING, LONDON. Second half 18th century. The mahogany case with caddy top and brass carrying handle flanked by cast-brass pineapple finials above the rectangular case, each side with glass panels, the astragal-arched door opening to the dial with silvered chapter ring with Arabic and Roman numerals, centering time, strike, and calendar apertures, beneath an elliptic aperture with a mock pendulum having an engraved bobbin. All within cast-brass scrolling spandrels and convex silvered name plate engraved in script “William Kipling London”. The twin train fusee striking movement with an engraved backplate. The case on a molded plinth, raised on brass ogee bracket feet. SIZE: 20″ overall h. x 12″ overall w. x 7-3/4″ d. PROVENANCE: From the Easton family estate, Paradise Farm, Middletown, R.I.
