This document No. 865 granted to Toussaint Drouaux, Captain of the Corsaire L’Escomoteur out of the port of Cadiz in Spain authorizing the taking of and transport of any ship of the enemy captured in battle for an undisclosed prize amount. Signed in Paris in the seventh year of the First French Republic. Signed by the Minister of Marine Affairs for the colonies COTTRAU The document then signed by the captain of the L’Escomoteur authorizing the delivery of the prize ship “Volcano” by Captain Guillaume Bruschi. With a further description of the time & area in which the ship was captured. SIZE: 19-1/2″ l x 14-1/2″ w. CONDITION: This document remains clear and readable.
