BOUCHER “POLLY-WOG” SPEED BOAT. Sporadically found, Boucher manufactured a number of different toys from the late teens until the mid 30s. This particular example of a pond boat has a double cylinder outboard motor affixed to the rear of this speed boat. Steam mechanism is contained within the hull and covered with an aluminum sheath and three air ventilators. Constructed mainly of wood and the name “Polly-Wog” emblazoned upon the sides along with the manufacturers name, the sheath covering the engine is of polished aluminum and the three ventilators are of stamped brass. One can only imagine the joy of that young man and his father going to the park on Sunday and seeing their speed boat glide effortlessly across the tranquil pond shooting rapidly by the pond sailboats that are peacefully navigating the waters. Boucher manufactured toys but not in significant quantities, this example has impressed on the inside stern the number “53”, probably signifying its production number. SIZE: Approx 23″ l. CONDITION: In as found, condition with some older touch-ups to silver and possibly to white interior. Boat appears complete and would benefit from a light cleaning. 1-8161 JL (1,500-2,500)
