RARE FOLK ART MINIATURE FIGUREHEAD. Second half 19th century. Carved from the solid, depicting a female figure with long hair, clothed in a long dress with apron. The base carved out to fit onto the bow of a small skiff or launch. SIZE: 24″ l. of statue. 22-1/2 overall h. CONDITION: With old weathered surfaces and no remnants of original paint or gilding. Missing proper left arm, end of nose chipped, proper right front of base with small chip. Now mounted on a contemporary steel plinth. 9-94317 (1,000-2,000)
