AMERICAN COPPER FULL BODY ROOSTER WEATHERVANE. Late 19th century. This nice detailed example modeled with a full comb, open beak, and large wattle. The plumage nicely molded with good detail, the whole with verdigris surface. The vane is mounted permanently on a steel support rod which is now mounted to a stand. Literature for example with similar design characteristics see: American Antique Weather Vanes, The complete Illustrated Westervelt Catalog of 1883 p. 30, 33, & 34. SIZE: 18-3/4″ overall h x approx. 23″ l x 5-1/4″ w. CONDITION: Structurally very good. With nice verdigris surface and with rust stains beneath iron pole mount. 9-99607 (4,000-6,000)
