LYONEL FEININGER (American, 1871-1956) “WINDSPIEL”. Rare lithograph on fibrous Japan paper scene shows the old locomotive & tender traveling left to right spewing forth heavy black smoke. “Windspiel” is on the central part of the locomotive. Signed in the plate “Feininger 1906”. Unsigned but on the back bottom “Locomotive”. Housed in a modern decorative frame with triple matte. SIZE: Total: 9-1/4″ x 15-1/4″. Image: 6″ x 12-1/2″. PROVENANCE: From a fine Maine home. CONDITION: Examined out of frame. The piece is loose in corner mounts. There is a faint outline on the margin from a previous framing, a few light foxing lines to the fiber, and 1″ area of fiber at bottom of image which has brown tone. 9-22294 (15,000-25,000)
