REMINGTON FLUTED CYLINDER DA BELT MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 36 Perc. SN 419. Blued finish, 6-1/2” oct bbl, dovetail cone front sight, silvered brass triggerguard, 2-pc smooth walnut grips with initials carved in bottom of both grips. This revolver is one of the rare fluted cylinder belt models, one of less than 1,000 made in 1863 during the Civil War. Consignor believes that revolver was intended to be sold to the military, however it never was accepted & wound up being sold in the civilian market. At the end of war the 36 caliber belt model was again put into production mostly with plain cylinder and eventually as a cartridge conversion for cartridge revolver. CONDITION: Fair to good. All iron surfaces have been cleaned removing most of the marking on bbl. Triggerguard has strong traces of silver remaining. Balance of metal has a brown patina with light pitting, mostly on the hammer. Grips show wear on high edges, base, & have minor chips at top. Grips have been refinished. Works fine single action, but cyl does not lock properly on double action. 4-59392 JH92 (750-1,500)
