FREDERICK JAMES BOSTON (American, 1855-1932) THE READING LESSON. Oil on canvas interior scene shows two young girls reading from an open book. The younger girl in a golden flower decorated dress sits next to an older girl in deep blue dress who holds the book open on her lap. They sit on stools on an Oriental carpet and a green upholstered Empire sofa is in the background. Signed lower right. Housed in a fine carved gilt wood frame with gilt liner by Guido Frame Studio.
