THEODORE WORES (American, 1859-1939) THE BUTTERFLY KIMONO. Large oil on canvas portrait of a woman wearing a light color kimono decorated with colorful butterflies and having a deep blue central sash. She looks towards and places her hand on an apple blossom branch and at her feet is a teapot with cup and saucer. She holds an open fan down by her side. All set against a sea mist color background. Signed upper right. Housed in an outstanding replacement gilt carved wood frame with gilt carved liner. SIZE: 58″ x 26″. CONDITION: Very good with inpainting. 9-22230 (15,000-20,000)
