CAPTAIN P. CARBONNEAU (Canada, Late 19th Century) PORTRAIT OF THE STEAM YACHT “ADMIRAL D. D. PORTER”. Fine watercolor portrait of the orange and white hulled single stack steam yacht sailing left to right towards a lighthouse and away from a flock of birds. The watercolor has a domed painted area and is framed rectangularly. Top left having a pencil signature “P. Carbonneau” and the right section with “Levis 1878″. The piece is also pencil signed lower left. The yacht’s name is on the front mast flag, also on the pilot house side. Flags fly off the bow and stern and there is a pilot house eagle on top of the pilot house. Housed in a fine period lemon gold molded wood frame. Levis is a city near Quebec, Canada near the St. Lawrence River. SIZE: Sight: 17″ x 22-3/4”. CONDITION: Unrestored with several foxing lines and stains. Otherwise good. 9-94412 (1,500-2,500)
