EXCEPTIONAL SHELLWORK VALENTINE UNDER DOME. Mid-19th century. Exquisitely designed floral tree, the flowerheads all fashioned in shellwork, the trunk and oval base profusely covered with shells, claws, pebbles, seaweed, and a miniature sailboat made of shells. On top of tree is bird made of shells. Mounted in a period dome fitted on an oval mahogany plinth. SIZE: 17-1/2″ overall l. x 9-1/2″ overall w. CONDITION: Very good overall. Only minimal and minor losses and/or damages to flower petals, most probably contained within the dome. 9-93583 (700-1,000)
