FINE NEW ENGLAND SHERATON FIGURED MAPLE SIDEBOARD. Second quarter 19th century. The rectangular case surmounted by a splash guard, terminating in turned colonettes, the top edge with half round mahogany molding. The case fitted with an arrangement of three aligned short drawers above a pair of cross-banded deep drawers with cock beaded edges flanked by astragal, arched panel pilasters over a bank of three short drawers flanked by a pair of cupboard doors, all set back from the above and flanked by engaged pineapple half-columns above a rectangular stepped frieze raised on onion feet. The case with recessed side panels. The drawers and doors all with highly figured Birdseye and tiger maple veneers. SIZE: Overall: 53-1/4″h. Sideboard: 44-3/4″ h x 51″ l x 21-1/2″ d. CONDITION: All surfaces original, now with craquelure, good color and patina. Turned wood handles appear original. 9-24345 (5,000-7,000)
