COLORFUL PATRIOTIC OR POLITICAL PICTURE FRAME. This graphic late 19th or early 20th C. wooden frame was apparently made for either political campaigns or perhaps a GAR frame. Shield-shape with deep blue field and 13 ivory stars and 13 alternating red & white stripes. An oval opening in the center would serve as a display for the image of the candidate or veteran. The reverse of the shield, below & above the oval, have wood plates with a groove to slide the image in. The top wood plate drilled with 5 holes to hold small flags. This would be an outstanding display frame for an appropriate military or political image. SIZE: 23-1/2″ high x 18″ wide. CONDITION: Scattered small paint loss. Gold over-painted long ago.
