NEW ENGLAND CHIPPENDALE CURLY MAPLE CHEST-ON-CHEST, PROBABLY SOUTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS. Second half 18th century. In two parts, the upper dovetailed case with molded cornice fitted with an arrangement of two aligned short drawers over four long graduated drawers, all thumbmolded, fitted to the mid-molded lower case of three long graduated drawers, raised on ogee bracket feet with shaped returns. SIZE: 74-1/2″ h. x 36″ case w. x 20-1/2″ overall d. CONDITION: Professionally restored and repolished. Retaining original hardware and backboards. Bracket feet with some old professional restoration. The highly figured chest with soft mellow patina and honey brown color. 9-94466 (10,000-15,000)
