QUEEN ANNE MAPLE DISHTOP CANDLESTAND. First quarter 19th century, possibly Connecticut. The circular dishtop with unusual scalloped apron joined to a swelled ring-turned shaft raised on cabriole leg tripod base terminating in slender platform pad feet. The whole in early painted and sponge-decorated or grained surfaces. Note: A similar example can be seen in plate 373, page 385 in “American Furniture The Federal Period”, by Charles F. Montgomery. SIZE: 25-1/2″ h x 13″ dia. CONDITION: Dry paint losses on top, other paint surfaces with craquelure. One leg rejoined, but with no breaks or repairs. 9-27523 (600-700)
