NEW ENGLAND QUEEN ANNE TIGER AND FIGURED MAPLE HIGHBOY. Third quarter 18th century. Probably eastern Massachusetts or Rhode Island. In two parts, the rectangular dovetailed upper case with cove-molded cornice fitted with four thumbmolded graduated long drawers, fitted to the mid-molded lower dovetailed case, fitted with a long top drawer above a small central drawer flanked by square drawers above a deeply shaped undulating apron with central pendant finial, raised on strong cabriole legs with shaped returns on spoon platform pad feet. SIZE: 68″ h. x 35-3/4″ case w./38″ overall w. x 20″ d. PROVENANCE: From a fine southern Maine estate. CONDITION: Structurally in very fine condition with beautiful figured graining, mellow brown color, and very nice patina. The hardware later replacements in original holes. Old restoration to proper right rear leg at case. 9-94097 (7,000-11,000)
