FULL BODY COPPER ETHAN ALLEN JR.RUNNING HORSE WEATHERVANE WITH DIRECTIONALS. Last quarter 19th century. Possibly Thomas W. Jones New York or W. A. Snow of Boston. The hollow body with original surfaces and verdigris patina modeled with an outstretched head and tail nearly horizontal to the ground, somewhat unusual for an Ethan Allen model. This lot is offered with the original directionals together with the illustrated Westervelt Catalog of 1883. SIZE: h. of weathervane 15-1/2″ x l. 25-1/2″ overall h. 58″ overall w. 27-1/2″ PROVENANCE: Removed for the original home from which it was originally installed in Sherman Mills, Maine. CONDITION: Weathervane contains original surfaces with no bullet holes, a seam split to proper right foreleg at hoof. Directionals intact with minor rusting. Very good overall. 9-98759 (2,000-3,000)
