EUGENE JOSEPH VERBOEKHOVEN (Belgian, 1798-1881) AFTERNOON REST. Oil on canvas bucolic scene shows two cows and a sheep resting beside a large tree with the herd beyond being tended by a shepherd. A castle is seen before large mountains under blue and white cloud sky. Signed lower left. Housed in an antique gesso decorated frame. SIZE: 20″ x 24″. CONDITION: Relined with some inpainting, pencil point chip in tree, otherwise very good. 9-23032 (3,000-5,000)
