FINE PAINT-DECORATED COUNTRY TALL CASE CLOCK. Circa 1825, Maine. The bonnet with arched cove-molded crest surmounted by reeded plinths alternating with pierced fretwork above the arched door flanked by swelled ring-turned mustard yellow colonnettes. The door opening to a painted wood dial, gilt scrolling urn within the arch, the dial with Roman numeral chapter rings, centering a sweep seconds subsidiary dial above a calendar subsidiary dial flanked by simulated time and strike apertures, all within spandrels decorated with floral sprays. The wooden movement striking on a bell. Cove-molded case with panel door with simulated cross-banding and thumbmolded edges flanked by engaged mustard color quarter columns joined to the box base with molded panel raised on ball feet. Clock is missing weights & pendulum. SIZE: 86″ h x 13-1/2″ w of throat x 9-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Painted case and dial appear original. Wood movement also original. Working condition unknown.
