OUTSTANDING GRENFELL MISSIONARY RUG. This is probably one of the finest small Grenfell rugs we’ve had. These rugs were made at the Grenfell Missionary in Labrador and this example retains its original Grenfell missionary cloth label on the reverse. The wonderful multi-colored rug depicts two large Eskimo figures, an Eskimo house in the background on stilts, whales, sailing ship, net, snowshoes, sled dogs and Labrador ducks together with a dogsled. Essentially, most nearly all of the images associated with Labrador. Multi-colored on an aqua-colored background and framed in a gilt and brown border. SIZE: 19-3/4” w x 26-3/4” h.
