OUTSTANDING 19th CENTURY POCKET GLOBE IN ORIGINAL BOX. This signed 19th century pocket globe in excellent condition is housed in its original box with original hand-colored litho image at top. A uniformed naval officer leans on a globe on which the initials “MCB” exist. This is the maker’s mark for Carl Bauer. It’s made in 12, hand-colored, engraved gores in English. it has two pins on the axis which are meant to rest on little notches on the storage box so that it can be examined and revolved at the same time. Storage box is a very light lavender with a pressed design. The underside of which is signed in period script, “THOMAS D. THARADIAN/MAY 20TH, 1859/GLOBE NO.1”. SIZE: (globe) 3” to 3-1/2” dia. CONDITION: The box is in generally good condition. The area below the equator is slightly toned darker than the area above the equator, but in general the paper is excellent and the color is strong on the globe. 9-94629 (1,500-2,500)
