RARE CANDLE LANTERN IN ORIGINAL BLUE PAINT. Circa 1800, New England. The square pine lantern with rectangular supports pinned through the top and base fitted with a wire swing handle and with sheet-tin roof vent. With panel glass sides, the door with snipe hinges and iron wire latch. Fitted with a rolled sheet-iron candle cup with cinched wire joinery. SIZE: 10-1/2″ h x 6″ w x 5-3/4″ l. CONDITION: Very good with early 19th century cobalt blue paint, early glass panels possibly original, top with old stable shrinkage crack. 9-29178 (2,000-3,000)
