MEHL LAWSON (American, 1942-) “DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH”. Contemporary bronze sculpture shows cowboy wearing hat and chaps breaking in a stallion for use on the range. The stallion is shown rearing up with the cowboy hanging on with one hand. The bronze is in a light brown patina and is signed in the sculpture “Mehl Lawson CA”, numbered “7/35″ and titled. The bronze is mounted to a walnut round wood plinth. Mehl Lawson is considered one of the most successful contemporary sculptors on the western scene today. SIZE: Bronze is 19″ h x 12″ at widest. Overall is 20” h. PROVENANCE: From a private New Hampshire collector. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. 9-95350 (4,000-6,000)
