NEW ENGLAND SHERATON MAHOGANY AND TIGER MAPLE DROP-LEAF WORK TABLE. Circa 1840. The rectangular mahogany top fitted with hinged D-form leaves all with reeded edges above the conforming frieze fitted with two drawers, the pilasters and drawer fronts with tiger maple veneers and inlaid diamond escutcheons raised on spool turned spiral twist legs with ringed cuffs on pointed feet. SIZE: 29″ h x 17-1/2″ w closed, 30″ w open, 17″ d. CONDITION: Proper left drop-leaf with small split at hinge. Original finish removed, later finish somewhat bleached but intact. Brass hardware of the period. Otherwise good. 9-99973 (1,500-2,500)
