E. MICHEL WHEEL CARVED CAMEO VASE. Extremely fine E. Michel vase has beautifully carved amethyst and green stems and leaves flowing upward around the entire body of the vase. Each stem supports a magnificently carved amethyst poppy. The cameo work is set against a light amethyst background that is intaglio carved with further stylized stems and leaves. The vase is finished with a light amethyst foot decorated with a simple stylized flower surrounding the stem. The rim is finished with a green scalloped design and deep amethyst band. Signed on the underside in the polished pontil “E. Michel”. E. Michel was noted for exceptionally fine work and because of his limited production these fine pieces are extremely rare and very seldom seen on the market. This is without a doubt the finest example of E. Michel’s work we have ever had the honor of offering. SIZE: 11-1/2″ t.
