RARE CARVED FIGURAL “FATHER TIME” WALL CLOCK.

RARE CARVED FIGURAL “FATHER TIME” WALL CLOCK. Late 18th- early 19th century, in the Manner of Grinling Gibbons, England or France. The Beech and Pine case deeply carved with the figure of winged “Father Time” with sickle and a winged “Mother Time” holding an hourglass in her raised right hand. Each figure wrapped in a carved floral garland and centering a brass dial with etched scroll work. The brass two-barrel fusee movement with time and strike apertures striking on a bell within a concave molded frame. Clock is accompanied by two photographs of Ms. Bergen taken in her home with the clock behind her. SIZE: Approximately 60″ h x 52″ w. PROVENANCE: The personal property of award winning American actress, singer, and best-selling author, Polly Bergen. CONDITION: With old shrinkage cracks and repairs throughout the case. Dry crusty finish, mostly intact. Case needs general professional re-polishing and some cosmetic repairs. Good to very good overall. 7-70241 (15,000-20,000)
