PAIR NEW YORK FEDERAL MAHOGANY SIDE CHAIRS. Circa 1810. Each with molded shield-back with arched crest rail centering a pierced splat, the center element carved with Prince of Wales plumes and pendant husks, the splat pediment fan-carved with scalloped edge and pineapple, above the shaped slip seat with serpentine front rail, raised on molded tapering frontal legs and backswept rear legs, joined by a recessed box stretcher. SIZE: Each: 38″ h. of back x 18-1/2″ h. of seat. CONDITION: Both examples with old damages and repairs to backs, one minimal. Both retain old surface with good patina. Corner blocks and seat frames good, one with original seat blocks. Both seat frames original. 9-94129 (2,000-4,000)
