HORSE AND FORMAL RIDER FULL BODIED COPPER WEATHERVANE. Last quarter 19th century, New England. This fine example with verdigris and gilt surfaces of a full body horse mounted with a formal rider rendered in sheet copper. The tail a combination of molded and sheet copper rendered with button eyes. The horse mounted on a flange support. SIZE: 27″ h x approx 31″ l. PROVENANCE: From a private Waterville, Maine collection. CONDITION: Surfaces basically untouched, with remnants of original gilting. Surfaces untouched with nice verdigris. Weakness to vertical foreleg at hoof with need for reinforcement. Otherwise seems intact. Otherwise very good. 9-29604 (10,000-20,000)
