UNSIGNED (American, 19th Century) CHILDREN WITH THEIR TOYS. Watercolor on paper with graphite scene shows a line up of youngest to oldest children, each holding a toy or favorite item. The figures are facing left in a procession on a black floor with each having their name in pencil below the black floor. The first, “Jo” dressed in white holding a rattle; second, “Moses”, dressed in blue coat with horn; third, “Maria” in red dress holding an alphabet board; forth, “Ebenezer” in blue coat holding a drum; fifth, “Letitia” in gold dress holding a cat; sixth “Samuel” in lavender coat holding a top with stick and string and the seventh, “Mehitabel” in a red dress holding an open book. Housed in an antique black painted molded wood frame with old glass. SIZE: Sight: 8-1/4″ x 14-1/2″. CONDITION: There are adhesive bleed through marks, stains to upper and lower left, some foxing.
