IMPORTANT DECORATED FORGED IRON PRESENTATION ROASTING FORK & SPOON. Circa 1720, New York. These signed whitesmith wrought punch decorated and pierced pair, probably a presentation gift, each with punch decorated name “CHRISTINA CASTEN” on handles. The fork additionally marked “CC”; the spoon marked “HL”, presumably the mark of the maker. Both with punch decorated hearts embellished with punch work throughout and with pierced escutcheon hangers. The spoon with relief forged elongated rat tail at juncture of handle to bowl. SIZE: Fork: 22-1/2″. Spoon: 19-3/4″. CONDITION: Original untouched polished surfaces, now age darkened to fine patina. Very good overall. 9-28486 (2,000-4,000)
