EARLY COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. SN 36349. Cal. 45 Colt. Nickel finish with 7-1/2″ bbl, full front sight and 1-line block letter address. Bottom of bbl, under ejector rod housing, is marked with last four digits of SN. Ejector rod housing is 2nd type with bull’s eye ejector rod head. Left side of frame has 3-line patent dates and left shoulder of trigger guard is marked with caliber. Fitted with fine old, period of use, 1-pc ivory grip with raised carved oxhead on right side. Accompanied by a Colt factory letter identifying this revolver in 45 Colt, blue finish with bbl length and type of stocks not listed, shipped to Schuyler, Hartley & Graham, New York, NY on Oct. 8, 1877 in a shipment of 50 same type revolvers. PROVENANCE: David Crocker Estate Collection. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Overall retains 93-95% nickel with some losses around muzzle and other spots on the frame, loading gate & recoil shield. Hammer is dark case colors. Trigger guard & back strap are mostly a dark patina with scattered spots of nickel. Cylinder retains about 75% milky nickel. Orig base pin has had the head modified. Grip has several dark age lines and some edge crystallization with one recent damage on the left toe. Mechanics are fine, strong bore with moderate pitting. 4-36864 JR3 (3,000-5,000)
