HANDEL BIRD LAMP. Domical shade is reverse painted with two pairs of exotic birds and a floral and foliate pattern. The birds are painted in vibrant yellows, oranges, and blues with mauve peonies, and five petal yellow flowers. The foliage is realistically painted in greens with purple accents. All of these are on an unusual teal colored ground. The shade is supported by a three socket, basket weave base that carries an early original green patina finish. The lamp appears to have been original since the beginning. This is a scarcely seen shade and base. The shade is signed “HANDEL 7036” and an artist signature “FL” for Florence Lewis. SIZE: Lamp 25″ t. Shade 18″ diameter. CONDITION: Shade is very good to excellent. The base is very good to excellent missing one acorn pull. 5-68919 (9,000-12,000)
